An 1870’s detached villa had been in multiple occupation, since the 70’s when the house had been bought from squatters. The large house on 4 floors had been divided into 4 flats and bedsits, the construction had been cheaply undertaken. The lower ground floor had damp issues. The brief was to return the property to a single dwelling with a studio on the lower ground floor. The upper floors to function as a family house for 5 children and a live in nanny. As part of the works the house was extended at the rear in the garden. To ensure sufficient natural light the extension was part separated and large windows and roof lights introduced. Elsewhere the original architectural features were retained or repaired and all new modification was to be contemporary.
