The brief was to create a luxurious but comfortable home for a family who love to entertain. Their 1830’s white-stucco fronted house had been much altered in its life and the challenge was to return it to its former elegance. The normal challenges of adapting a Victorian house for 21^st century comfort were heightened by its deep plan form and many floors. To improve circulation and natural lighting, the existing stairs were replaced and previous adhoc extensions and alterations were removed.  The resulting layout, although completely different from its original 1830’s configuration, feels original. As the interior designers and architects the design is fully integrated with an emphasis on luxury and comfort. We installed an automated lighting and audio system and comfort cooling to all principal rooms. We were commissioned to design many pieces of bespoke furniture, including the entire kitchen itself.
